LETTUS BOTANICUS, 2005
Lion Gate Lodge, Botanic Gardens, Sydney
Lettus Botanicus or Up the Garden Path was created specially for the NSW Seniors Week Garden Party to be performed at the Lion Gate Lodge and the surrounding garden.
The source of inspiration for this work came from the architecture, the garden, its plants, trees and landscape… but of course as with how inspiration works, it led to the myriad of possibilities beyond the original source which made up Lettus Botanicus.
It was lovingly seeded, weeded, rooted and fruited!
Welcome to Lettus Botanicus or Up the Garden Path
We the Australian Dance Artists known as ADA have the pleasure of inviting you to join us for Up the Garden Path. It has been and continues to be a wonderful journey for us, travelling up that path and back again.
When asked to create something special for in and around the Lion Gate Lodge at The Royal Botanical Gardens, Sydney, we approached the project with trepidation, as well as, excitement !
At our first meeting at the Lodge, we took photos and videos of our exploration in the surrounds, and together we shared thoughts it was back to the studio where the process of shaping, moulding, working, reworking and refining began.
The source of inspiration for this work came from the architecture, the garden, its plants, trees and landscape.........but of course, as with how inspiration works , it lead to the myriad of possibilities beyond the original source, which makes up Lettus Botanicus. Often, we took a random and abstract idiosyncratic idea, ran with it and to our delight, it would end up being just the perfect piece in the puzzle. In much the same way, we discovered that the music chosen has botanical sounding titles which just added to the overall nuances for Lettus Botanicus
From all of us at ADA, we hope Lettus Botanicus' magical mayhem with its mystery of flavours, touches your senses and that you thoroughly enjoy it, as much as we have, in bringing it to you.
